Wardobe Edit | Bare Heels & Statement Sleeves

Wardrobe Edit style column April 2017

Every month, fashion editor, blogger and stylist Carly Stevens shares her favourite outfit of the moment…

Wardrobe Edit style column, Carly Stevens, Style & SubstanceWith the promise of warm weather just around the corner (I hope!), this month I’m daring to bare… my heels. The backless loafer has been a welcome new shoe shape for spring and one we can all dip a toe – or heel – into.

This navy pair from Boden are so comfy and a bit of a guilty pleasure as they feel oddly like slippers – not a bad thing in my opinion. Sadly they don’t come with a fur-lined inner, like the infamous Gucci pair, but I love them all the same. They smarten up these relaxed boyfriend jeans from Hush, making them perfect for an off-duty look, but they work equally well with a cropped trouser for the office, too.

You will also find me wafting around wearing mostly statement sleeves from here on. Granted, they are not overly helpful when eating (I don’t care to count how many meals I have got them caught in) but fashion doesn’t have to be functional all the time – sometimes it’s fun to indulge in less practical pieces, especially when they are this comfy! The structure of this Jaegar knit stops it from becoming too swishy and the voluminous sleeves are perfect if you have less-than-toned arms – like myself.

Finally, I’ve jumped on the fashion bandwagon with a ring tote. Any handbag worth its salt this season is finished with giant circular handles or a ring feature and, after just a few outings, I can confirm this camel version from Jaeger is perfect for carrying all my essentials. It also makes a welcome change from a baby bag.
