Wardrobe Edit, weatherproof wardrobe

Every month, fashion editor, blogger and stylist Carly Stevens shares her favourite outfit of the moment

As seasons go, autumn has to be the most reliable, weather-wise. While summer can be a mixed bag, you can guarantee the temperature will drop come October. In my opinion, this justifies every fashion purchase; from coats to jumpers, boots and trousers. I’ll wear them all, and all at once when it’s cold enough!

This two-piece trouser suit, worn with a shirt and jumper, together or separately, offers endless wearability. The blue adds a refreshing twist and, while the tweed screams of heritage, the loose box cut gives a contemporary edge. Pairing it with a boyfriend fit white shirt pays homage to the androgynous trend, and appeals to my inner tomboy.

I also love a patent accessory. Step forward (pun intended) these comfy brogues and black satchel – both great modern takes on a classic. And it goes without saying that the shiny surfaces work well in the rain this ‘reliable’ season will inevitably bring.

Blazer, £150, Boden

Trousers, £120, Boden
Brogues, £49.50, Marks & Spencer
